Historic Anne Arundel

Residents of Severn, Glen Burie, Millersville, and other towns in Anne Arundel only have to drive a few miles to find old houses, some lived in by private citizens and others set aside as public museums. Annapolis is of particular importance with its links to the earliest days of American independence and as a port for trade between America and countries around the world. Three men who signed the Declaration of Independence lived in Annapolis. The restored house and gardens of one — William Paca — are open to the public. Annapolis is home to a Maritime Museum as well as to several other structures dating back 200+ years.

Savage, west of Severn, is home to Savage Mill. From 1822 to 1947, this building housed a busy textile mill. Today, the historic structure houses boutiques, art studios, shops, and restaurants.
