The unincorporated community of Millersville, Maryland in Anne Arundel County began as a crossroads of rail lines and remains a crossroads village of highways today. Only ten miles from busy Annapolis and within commuting distance of Baltimore and Washington, D. C. as well, Millersville today is a beautiful community of parks, ball fields, walking trails, waterfront and upscale residential developments. Today the Childs Residence stands as the focal point of the town and a monument to its first owner George Miller, the original postmaster of the town named for him. This was the community’s post office for 130 years.
The Millersville community has much to offer both urbanites and families who are considering a move here. This area has access to several major highways for easy travel times of 15 to 30 minutes to surrounding cities: I-95, Highway 2 (Governor Ritchie Highway), Veterans Highway and the MARC rail. This is a community of executive and management professionals, state and federal government workers and highly educated people. Unemployment and crime rates are extremely low. Most homes are owner occupied and staple, not transient. Neighbors get to know each other and invest in their properties and community in many ways. In fact, some of Millersville’s family-friendly neighborhoods are rated in the top ten percent of such in the entire state.
Millersville has ample shopping, business as well as professional services, and restaurants to enjoy. Severn Run Environmental Area Trail provides an area for hiking and horseback riding. The Severn River provides a venue for water sports. The Chartwell Country Club has a wonderful golf course and the Severna Park Racquetball and Fitness Club is popular for workouts. Kinder Farm Park is fun for all ages. It is a real working farm with all kinds of animals to feed and chores to do. It has the only disc golf course in the county, picnic areas, miles of hiking/ biking trails, a community garden, four ponds for fishing, and two playgrounds. The excellent Garcelon Athletic Complex is located here as well, featuring ball fields for several sports and a playground. Elvaton and Southgate Old Mill Park recreation areas also serve the Millerstown community.
The homes for sale in Millersville range in price from the mid to high $200,000s for town homes to $3 million for waterfront properties on the Severn River. Millersville is a community of upscale properties built from the 1940s to the present day. The excellent local schools draw residents here. Local neighborhoods include:
